Just like many of you, this last year has been rough. From rushing home to avoid being stuck out of state in a pandemic, to having our ATV stolen, to being diagnosed with MS. Rough might be an understatement.

But besides all that, we had a good season of salmon fishing. We’ve made new friends, expanded on our cabin and have happy, healthy, growing girls. So while I’m excited to see this year in the rearview, it hasn’t been all bad.

The top post in our best of is:

Signs Of Labor In Dogs

This is the most popular post on my blog by a huge margin. I didn’t expect it to be so big, over 11,000 views this year alone. I guess everyone loves puppies!

The next four most popular posts on the blog are:

The best comment I received this year was via a private message on Instagram:

“Hello, I just came across your blog on why you chose Huskies for your homestead. Two weeks ago I rescued a litter of 6 Husky mix pups. I decided to keep one for myself, and then it turned into 2, I was able to find great homes for the others.

I never planned on owning a husky, but my heart broke for these dogs dumped by some awful human. I’ve spoken to dozens of people who all say I need to re-home these pups because they will kill my livestock. I’ve wanted to cry about a dozen times today because I am determined to raise these 2 to be wonderful, obedient dogs. While reading tonight, I found your blog, and I cried because it gave me hope. I didn’t plan on having these dogs, or this breed. But I’ve fallen in love. I’m devoted to making sure they are loved and raised right. Thank you for putting your story out into the world. It gave me comfort tonight.”

I’m so thrilled that this kind of human took time out of their day to let me know how much my writing meant to them!

The blog has also grown exponentially, from 18k views last year to nearly 45k this year.

Guess that’s my sign to keep documenting the best of our adventures out here. Thanks for reading everyone!
